Novavita is a clinical laboratory that specializes in fertility testing. We are accredited by the Diagnostic Accreditation Program of the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia.

Novavita provides comprehensive services, with the availability of the very basic to the most advanced fertility diagnostics. A proactive approach to the fertility evaluation helps direct the most efficient treatment decisions and can optimize the best chances for reproductive success.

History

Novavita Laboratory is a continuation of the UBC GYN Endocrine Laboratory that was setup more than 30 years ago to provide close and rapid response support to the then pioneering services of assisted fertility and invitro-fertilization practice by the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the University of British Columbia. The laboratory at that time pioneered the use of radioimmunoassay for the measurements of various female and male hormones. The laboratory then also extended its services to all of B.C. and was the major referral center for these assays for a number of years.

A few years ago, UBC decided to close its direct clinical services, the closure included the assisted fertility and invitro-fertilization practice at the Women’s Center in Vancouver.

With the approval of the Ministry of Health of BC, the laboratory was allowed to follow this group of patients with their special fertility related needs and their clinicians to a new location. The laboratory had a change of name to Novavita Laboratory, acquired new equipment and new staff, achieved Accredited Status form the College of Physicians of BC and now provides close and rapid support to adjacent Olive Fertility Clinic and also to referred patients and referred samples from other physicians.

Recent Improvements

The provision of onsite semen collection with rapid analysis ensures reliable assessment of spermatic activity, especially for distant patients. Close collaboration with physicians of Olive Fertility Clinic enhances the setting and interpretability of reference values, especially for newer tests such as AMH (Anti-Mullerian Hormone).

Dr. R.ChongKit

Dr. Renison Chongkit (MBBS FRCP) is the founder and director of Novavita Laboratory. Dr. Chongkit has both general and specialist registrations with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C., with a specialty in General Pathology. Dr. Chongkit has extensive experience in the field of laboratory medicine, including being a former director of the laboratory at Surrey Memorial Hospital, former Medical Biochemist at St. Paul’s Hospital and BC-Biomedical Laboratory, and as a former Medical Director of the UBC GYN Endocrine Laboratory. We are very fortunate to have someone of  Dr.Chongkit’s caliber overseeing Novavita.
